Gold Mountain is a photo journaling exercise that captures the timelessness of Chinatown, San Francisco.
Film Photography, Street Photography
I was challenged to journal a bay area city with images and make a connection to the people and history. I made it my goal to have meaningful interactions and build empathy and learn from my encounters.
Empathy Building is immensely important to not intrude or be just another tourist. I needed to speak with people and be respectful of the environment. I wanted learn about what people were going through and how they felt living in the belly of the beast that is San Francisco.
I felt like an outsider. But then I started to speak with people. Overcoming the language barrier was difficult, but the more I stuck with it the more success I had.
